I really enjoyed designing this planting scheme for Cathal and his family in Cabinteely. Acer palmatum, now underplanted with another Japanese plant Hakonechloa macra. Heuchera, a fern, and the striking red blades of Imperata ‘Red Baron’ are in the bed just behind it. Their one existing plant in the garden was a gorgeous Japanese maple, which we used to set the theme an Asian-tropical feel with plenty of lush foliage. Had a lovely time working with Emma on her back garden. She fancied a bit of a refresh for her borders; she wanted lots of colour but still easy to manage. We settled on a coastal inspired scheme, which we achieved with a mix of ornamental grasses and plants like the coastal loving Erigeron ‘Sea Breeze’. ​​Other plants included Geranium ‘Rozanne’ and Anisodontea—both favourites of mine as they provide months of colour and are really easy to manage.
