Pollinator-friendly Front Garden in Raheny

I love a nicely planted front garden, as because it is the part of your garden you see every day as you come and go.
Ciara and John asked me to design a planting scheme for their front garden in Raheny last February.

They already had a lovely magnolia tree in the middle of the garden, as well as a good few plants in pots.
They wanted lots of colour and pollinator-friendly plants for the new planting.

Planting Scheme Design
I included many of the plants they already had in pots in the new scheme, as plants are generally much happier growing in the ground than in pots.
I also included a variety of colourful, pollinator-friendly plants with flowerheads of different shapes. This variety of shapes works well visually and also helps to attract different types of insects.
The rest of the scheme had some evergreen plants and ornamental grasses to provide structure and interest throughout the year.

Ciara and John did all the planting themselves in March, using cardboard over the grass.

Look how gorgeous it looks now!
